Teaching Work Experience
As a Federation of Academies, we endeavour to support those who are seeking to pursue a career in teaching. In some cases, this involves sampling a day or two in a school to see whether this is a viable career. In other cases, people have already decided that a career in teaching is what they desire and now they need to build a portfolio of evidence of time spent in schools liaising with teachers and students in advance of an application for teaching.
We aim to support as many people as possible in this, and we have systems which help this process.
a) We subscribe to the DfE School Experience Programme (SEP). To join the SEP, you must hold a first class or 2:1 degree and be considering teaching secondary maths, chemistry, physics, modern foreign languages (MFL) or computing.
You can also apply as an undergraduate if you:
- are in your final year of studying for a degree in one of these subjects, and
- are interested in teaching one of these subjects, and
- are predicted at least a 2:1 degree
Further details and application forms are available at: www.education.gov.uk/get-into-teaching/school-experience/sep.aspx
b) If you are interested in any other subject, or for other work experience requests, you should email firstname.lastname@example.org. We will determine whether we have the capacity to support your request and will contact you as soon as we are able to inform you of the outcome.
It must be noted that in order to spend time in our academies you will require a DBS check. This is part of our safeguarding policy. If you are applying to the School Experience Programme, the academy will process this and the DfE will fund it. However, if you are applying directly to the Federation, you will need to process and fund the DBS clearance yourself.
If you need any further information, please contact us at email@example.com.
