Governor Profiles

Members of Lincoln Local Governing Body come from a wide variety of different backgrounds. Below you will find a short biography of each of our Governors. Please click on the following link for details of appointments and attendance:

Michael Baker (Chair)
Michael is a Squadron Leader in the Royal Air Force, who is currently working at BAe Warton near Preston as a Typhoon Requirements Manager. He was born in Sheffield and went to school in nearby Rotherham where he sat the then 'new' GCSE qualification in 1988. After completing his 3 A-Levels at Rotherham College of Arts and Technology, he went to Liverpool University to study Physics. After graduating from University, he joined the RAF in 1993 to train as a pilot. Whist serving in the RAF he has flown both the Harrier and Tornado GR4 in combat ops over Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan. He is married to Sarah and has 2 children. A keen sailor, he is currently studying for his Yachtmaster Coastal qualification."

Paul Holmes (Vice Chair)
Paul was born in the Northeast of England, he studied Electronics and Software Engineering at Newcastle University, after graduating he joined the Royal Air Forces in 1999 as an Aircraft Technician and currently works at RAF Waddington. He is married with three sons, he and his family are actively involved in Scouting with him also being a leader and Executive Committee member at 10th Lincoln Scout Group.

Lynda Turton
Lynda is currently employed by Lincolnshire County Council in 'Safeguarding and Review.' Previously employed as a Childminding Development Officer and various administrative posts; self-employed as a Registered Childminder. Lynda has served as a Governor for over 20 years, initially at Sir Francis Hill School and then Ancaster High School. She is currently a Governor at both The Priory Witham Academy and The Priory City of Lincoln Academy.

Scott Bainbridge
Scott is an Operations Manager for a large retail chain. Over the last 20 years Scott has worked his way up the company, so is fully experienced with all aspects of the business. He was born and raised in Middlesbrough but moved to Lincoln in 1996. Currently Scott is an active member of a number of committees and has differing roles within each. He is the Health and Safety Executive Community Member for 28th  Lincoln Scouts, Chair of the committee for Lincoln Navigators and parent member of Hykeham Tigers Football Club Committee. He is married with 2 children – 1 currently at the school and 1 who is due to start in September.

Colin Parkin
Colin is married to Julie and has two children and four grandchildren who are all at school. Most of his working life has been in the financial services sector. He works as an international speaker and business coach and mentor all over the world.  Last year he took a c.e.o position of a charity foundation supporting the age group of 16 to 25 years in education. He has many hobbies and interests which include Golf , Ten Pin bowling and Cricket .

Sara Hobson
Sara was born and grew up in Lincoln. She attended North Kesteven School, Lincoln College of Technology and, later on in life, the University of Lincoln.  She is married to Philip and has two daughters, two step children and three step grandchildren.  She has worked in finance, education, business support and now works as the Training and Development Manager for the construction company Lindum Group Ltd. Her hobbies include walking, running, music as well as house building and renovation.

Laura Gregory
Laura is a Chartered Management Accountant and has been working in the Education Sector since 2017 when she joined the Priory as Interim Chief Financial Officer for three months which turned into a fifteen month stay. She currently works part time at the Lincoln Anglican Academy Trust as the Finance Manager.

Upon leaving the Priory in 2018, she completed her diploma in Clinical Reflexology and also works two days a week as a Reflexologist focusing on improving emotional well-being and reducing stress for children and adults.

Laura spends most of her free time being a taxi service to two daughters, but with one about to learn to drive she is excited this may soon change.
