2024 Cohort - 16-19 Study Programmes
All students at Priory Lincoln Academy’s Sixth Form will be funded through the 16 to 19 funding methodology and will be enrolled on a full-time study programme. These study programmes have a core aim based on either academic, vocational qualifications and also include other activities, that are tailored by the Sixth Form team to suit both the individual student’s prior attainment and career goals.
All study programmes will involve non-qualification activities. These aim to further enhance and enrich the students’ studies to enable and support them to progress in their future next-step choices; Higher Education (HE), apprentice or employment.
All 16 to 19 study programmes will be designed to provide students with a structured and challenging learning environment that supports their development and progression in line with their career plans. These are bespoke for each student but will typically combine the elements below:
- substantial qualifications that stretch students and prepare them for education at the next level or for employment
- English and mathematics (where students have not yet achieved a GCSE Grade 4)
- work experience to give students the opportunity to develop their career choices and to apply their skills in real working conditions
- other non-qualification activities to develop students’ character, broader skills, attitudes and confidence, and to support progression
The Priory Lincoln Academy works in partnership with another trust school (The Priory Academy LSST) in order to broaden the range of academic options open to students. (Having access to a broad range of options is key to the 16-19 philosophy.)
Study programmes are designed to be full-time with a minimum of 540 planned hours per academic year. This allows sufficient time to deliver the principles above.
