2024 Cohort - Life after the Sixth Form
Our students go on to a wide range of careers after leaving school. We are proud of the fact that our Sixth Form team offer regular advice and guidance in relation to the full range of options including University, apprenticeships and full-time employment. We also stage careers events where external speakers run workshops and help students with applications for their chosen paths.
For students who want to apply for a place at university, the Sixth Form team work with them throughout Years 12 and 13 to guide them in their reading and research on the subjects they wish to study at university.
Our close links with local higher education providers offer students the chance to visit universities in order to get a taste of student life and gain some valuable additional advice. We also regularly invite guest speakers to visit and explain the university application process. In March, visits to several university open days are organised by the Academy and in June attend UCAS Convention at The Lincoln University. Through the Sixth Form tutor groups, we encourage discussion and debate which are important skills for potential university students to develop.
The process of completing a personal statement for a university application is taken very seriously and considerable advice and support is given. We also offer opportunities to gain interview experience with a range of staff who specialise in different subjects.
Last year, all of our students who chose to apply to university were offered a place.
