Remote Learning for Year 10 students
Year 10 students have been asked to remain at home for the week commencing 10th May 2021, as a result of staff absences, due to Track & Trace. Our sincere apologies.
Dear Parent/Carer
Since our full return in March we have had very little disruption caused in the Academy due to either COVID confirmed cases or Track & Trace enforced isolations. Unfortunately on Friday 7th May, we have had a significant number of staff contacted by the Government Track & Trace system. Cases of confirmed COVID from staff and students remain very low and there would appear to be no common link in the Academy for these notifications. Such news is therefore frustrating. However, we must still abide by the Government protocols and at this point our staffing deficit will impact the Academy for the week beginning 10th May.
In light of this it is not possible to continue face to face, in Academy teaching to all year groups. We have decided that Year 10 will need to work remotely from home from this Monday. We will conduct remote learning as we have done previously, using Classcharts as our platform with work assigned daily. Whilst we will endeavour to provide some live lesson provision, this will not be possible for all. Those teachers remaining in the Academy may be reallocated to cover lessons during their usual year 10 lesson. Students are expected to engage with all lessons and complete the work set.
After careful consideration we have chosen Year 10 due to the following; potential safety concerns for younger students having to work on their own at home, Year 11 currently being in the middle of their GSCE assessed tasks and Year 9 having been the group who have had to spend most time away from the Academy to date.
I apologise to parents, carers and students in Year 10. We will continue to work to find a solution and will announce a return date as soon as possible.
For those students attending the Academy please can you remind your child about the importance of continuing to follow our COVID protocols.
We will continue to do our very best to care for, support and educate all of our students and appreciate your continued support as we hopefully move further out of the present restrictions.
Best wishes
