Academy Letter 18/03/20

Academy will be closed to Years 9 and 10, with effect from Thursday 19th March until further notice

As an Academy and wider Trust we have been working hard, in increasingly challenging circumstances, to continue to provide a high quality of education for all of our pupils.

Unfortunately, because of the government’s advice about self-isolation, staffing levels have dropped to the point where this is no longer possible.

Consequently, we are not in a position to be able to safely open the Academy to all year groups. Regretfully, we have decided to close the Academy to Years 9 and 10, with effect from Thursday 19th March until further notice. Should it be unsafe for your child to be at home during the day, please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate them. Staff remaining in our Academy will be redeployed to other year groups as necessary. Subject to staffing levels or government directives, we will remain open for as many year groups as possible, for as long as possible.

Should it be necessary to send further year groups home, it would be likely that it would be in the order as follows: Year 8, then Year 7, followed by Year 12 and finally Years 11 and 13.

Given the possibility of further reductions in staffing, our decision to keep Years 7 and 8 in the Academy at this point is designed to give parents and carers of our youngest pupils additional time to put childcare arrangements into place.

Priority will also be given to our examination Years 11 and 13, given the need for them to secure strong outcomes this year.

We are currently putting into place arrangements for pupils to continue to learn at home and details will follow shortly.

In these unprecedented times, we will continue to attempt to minimise the disruption to learning and to maintain the high level of pastoral care we are so proud of.

We will keep you updated about further developments via our Academy website and email. If you have any questions about whole Academy arrangements please contact generalenquiries@priorycity.co.uk

We have been discussing the Lincoln Attitudes of ‘Being Kind’ and ‘Keeping Going’ with our students over recent weeks and I am hopeful that as a community we will keep these at the front of our minds over the coming months.
