LINCOLN • A PRIORY ACADEMY | 3 2 | www.priorycity.co.uk Lincoln Academy is part of The Priory Federation of Academies Trust. Our Trust’s mission is “To improve the life chances of our students so they become true citizens of the world” through our core values of WISDOM, CURIOSITY, GENEROSITY, COURAGE and PASSION. At The Priory Lincoln Academy we are proud of both our learning community and the community which we serve. Our Academy Motto summarises our core purpose and is a great starting point to introduce the academy to you. Achieving Individual Excellence Together WELCOME TO THE PRIORY LINCOLN ACADEMY ACHIEVING INDIVIDUAL EXCELLENCE TOGETHER Mr M Whitaker Headteacher Achieving – At Priory Lincoln we are passionate about the education of the whole child. Academic excellence across a broad and balanced curriculum is essential. We also give equal weighting to the importance of Personal Development and engagement in the wider curriculum. Students will be supported to experience a range of enrichment opportunities as well as leadership opportunities through the Academy Council. We celebrate the achievements of all, whether that be academic, the wider curriculum or what students achieve in their hobbies and interests outside of the academy. Individual Excellence – Each and every one of our students is an individual and we treat them as such. Every child is expected to achieve what is excellence for them, and is supported to be the very best version of themselves on any given day. Consistency of hard work, adherence to our expectations and working with our fantastic staff helps any young person achieve, what for them, is excellence. Together – This word emphasises our community. We are immensely proud of the community which we serve and we make no apologies for having fiercely ambitious expectations for our students. These expectations are about how we conduct ourselves, how we treat our environment and how we work together in order to achieve the very best. Our community is our strength and it is our springboard to launch our young people into their exciting future. ACHIEVING INDIVIDUAL EXCELLENCE TOGETHER
LINCOLN • A PRIORY ACADEMY | 5 4 | www.priorycity.co.uk Ready – Being ready is how students need to make sure they are ready to be successful. This might be being equipped for school, having the correct mindset to learn or knowing what the routine is at the start of every lesson. Equally it is important to be ready to face success and failure as part of the learning process. Having the resilience to continue when something is challenging is an essential mindset. LINCOLN EXPECTATIONS Across the academy, students will understand what is expected of them and how to be successful. Our expectations are there to help our students to be successful. A key part of our culture is recognising and communicating the successes of our young people so that this allows all members of our community to acknowledge and celebrate achievements. In all parts of academy life, students will know how to be successful through our routines. These routines are based around being Ready, Respectful and Engaged. We are mindful that in a large academy with numerous staff, it is important that students understand what is required of them to be successful. Respectful – Being respectful of others, ourselves and our learning environment is an essential part of our learning community. This applies to the interactions between students, students and adults and between adults. It also can be shown through the wearing of our uniform with pride and the way in which we expect members of our learning community to engage with visitors and when representing the academy. Engaged – Being engaged in each and every activity that we do is essential to our success. Whether this be in a lesson, an assembly, representing the Academy in a sporting activity or in the performing arts. In order to be successful in whatever we do, we must accept that working hard is the key ingredient. READY RESPECTFUL ENGAGED

LINCOLN • A PRIORY ACADEMY | 13 12 | www.priorycity.co.uk We place significant value in providing all students with the opportunity to engage in enriching opportunities. This may be representing the academy in sporting opportunities, performing in our annual academy show or in the MAD (Music, Art and Drama) Summer Showcase. Equally we aim to open the eyes of our students to places and opportunities which they may have never experienced before. This could be as part of a geography field trip, a visit to the University of Lincoln or an expedition as part of our extremely popular Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme A WEALTH OF ENRICHING OPPORTUNITIES There are also multiple opportunities for students to engage in longer residential trips. On an annual basis the academy has a ski trip and visits to France as part of our language offer. We encourage all students to engage in as many opportunities as possible as this helps them to develop as a young person. The experiences students are presented with on these opportunities may lead to a lifelong passion or provide a young person with a pathway which will form a part of their future career. Opening the eyes of students to opportunities which they did not know existed is a key part of education at Priory Lincoln.
